We have 4 animals that see the staff at Poultney Veterinary Hospital, 2 cats and 2 dogs. All of them are well on in age. We've been getting medical care for our pets since before Dr. Johnson arrived and bought the practice. We are very satisfied with the care our pets currently receive from the staff. The cats have been pretty low maintenance although one developed a thyroid issue within the last year. It was immediately diagnosed and treated with medication. She is doing much better and at 18 years of age is still jumping gates and making her presence known. Our Vet closed in September which left us with no vet. This past Sunday our cat started to show some signs of abdominal discomfort,by Tuesday morning things were unchanged. We called Poultry Veterinary Hospital and Tabitha pulled a rabbit out of her hat and found a hole for us Wednesday morning despite the practice being down a Vet who was traveling. Our cat was babied by two great Vet techs, Amy and Cindy; and seen by Dr. Hemmer. Dr Hemmer not only read the notes my wife had written but spent detailed time examining our cat and explaining what she found, treatment suggestions and a recheck after treatment. Although newcomers to this practice, we were treated efficiently and promptly. Our boy had a serious eye problem. Dr. Hemmer and staff recognized the emergency, fit us in, answered all of our questions patiently, and made suggestions about his future health care. We are so grateful.
