this review is specifically for the behavioral health inpatient unit and EmPATH unit. I want to start by saying the RNs and techs were amazing people and I could not have survived in there without them. However, Dr Subidi has to be the WORST doctor I've ever experienced in all of my years of not just mental health struggles, but physical illnesses as well. And unfortunately, they wouldn't let me see the other psychiatrist there in place because I was having such an awful time with Subidi. I didn't get better under his care at all. I was paranoid, delusional, suicidal, and having violent thoughts the entire time I was there. This information didn't phase Subidi or the women who sat in on our meetings. My violent thoughts weren't even in my care plan until I said something about it. Subidis only goal was to further sedate me, not to help me. I'm a patient who had been on psychiatric medications since age 10 (now 26). I have no problem with medication, it works for me. But his goal wasn't to do anything involving med changes EXCEPT increase my Seroquel (a highly sedative antipsychotic that causes weight gain). I struggle with chronic fatigue and obesity already, but this wasn't something he cared about. He wanted to sedate and discharge. He discharged me despite me having suicidal thoughts, violent thoughts, paranoia, and delusion. I went straight to the ER on discharge and was transferred to the Psychiatric institute of Washington DC (do not go there) where they actually changed my meds to a combination that worked for me, none of the medicines cause weight gain. Unfortunately, the environment there was so stressful I had a violent outburst. That outburst and the trauma I got from my stay there could have been prevented if Subidi had just done his job. That being said, Subidi is the ONLY thing that lowered my rating of this place. The activities are helpful, the food is great, regular snack times with whatever you want, we get to watch TV and listen to music, and the other staff is incredibly kind and helpful. Some of them I believe were put on earth to do this job. I had a good sense of community, the rooms are clean and nice, and even though there's no visitation, you can have zoom meetings at certain times of the day and phone calls all day except during group or meals. If I find myself needing another inpatient stay, I would want to go there. Just a different psychiatrist. another thing inexperienced not only at the inpatient unit but the EmPATH unit as well was religion being pushed, HARD. Religious psychosis is real, especially in those with schizophrenia. they had preachers come in to prey on the mentally vulnerable during AA and N/A meetings. I was also told in the EmPATH unit that "whenever he feels sad he prays" which was horribly unprofessional and honestly gross. other than that and Dr Subidi, Winchester BEH Inpatient Facility is a great place and I lowkey miss the techs and nurses, but I'm sure I'll see them again 🙏ðŸŧðŸĐ·
