“I really love the folks here. A relocation to HR had us hunting down a tax preparer in 2012 and somehow we found Fastax and Sharon and Andy. We've been with them ever since and when Andy suddenly passed away we were both sad and worried the office would close. Luckily for us, they're attached to the FT @TC and the office stayed open. Sharon is awesome as their admin person and Kathy always gets us the most money. Every February we find ourselves in their office and it's like we're having a family reunion. We have only used them for our taxes but they're open year round for other services, and during tax season they have weekend hours that will have you in and out in less than an hour.“

“I have trouble finding time to write reviews, but there are those extraordinary instances where I just need to tell people how I feel!
We are self-employed and ran into a real problem during the 2023 tax season and had no idea what to do… Enter Dawson's Accounting !
I literally just did a quick search on what was close by because of the urgency of our situation and made a phone call.
Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to be so pleased about that ONE phone call.
I met with Dare Metzger a couple of days later, and I was scared.
We, at that point, had been with the same accountant for 22 years. That truly induces fear when you're meeting another one and it's under such duress.
The minute I walked in, I felt like I had come home, if you can even say that about an accounting firm lol.
Very laid-back atmosphere, but extremely professional.
I waited and watched as I sat there, everyone doing what they do. The longer I was there, the more comfortable I was. Crazy, huh?
Then I got called into Dare's office, and I was very nervous.
I felt like I had done so many things wrong, even though those things were out of my control.
I think I sat there with her for over an hour as she 'fixed' everything, and I'm talking everything!
Payroll, federal tax deposits, Va Dept Tax filings, ALL the stuff that goes along with being self-employed and ALL PAST DUE.
Comes from depending too heavily on your accountant. Live and learn.

Well, I didn't.

Our old accountant came back to us and said she wanted to do our taxes because it was 'in her soul'.
She actually said that, and we felt like we should stick with her because we had been with her so long - still not knowing the details of what had happened.

Another year goes by.
Jan 13th, 2025, our accountant of 23 years, passed away.
It was very sad, but also very conflicting, because again, she had not done a lot of things that should've been done towards the end of the year.

Here we were in the same position that we were the year prior as far as accounting. I called Dawson's and made an appointment with Dare.

When we were called back to her office, I was nervous, but for a different reason. I had not gone back to her the following year, and I felt maybe that this wouldn't be a good look for me.

I had just started a new business the following January, so I had two businesses to throw her way that were just a mess.

She welcomed me with open arms and without hesitation! I again felt like part of the family! One thing about Dawson's is that it is local and family-run! I just love that!

So I'm writing this review because TWICE we were rescued, and I want to share.

My husband went with me this time, and he was floored and felt the same way I did last year when I walked out of there.

We cannot wait to continue this relationship and look forward to doing our taxes now, which is probably the weirdest thing I've ever said.“
