D & M Towing

Broke down because of a battery issue and my insurance booked these guys to tow me to the service outlet because a jump start we did with a neighbor hadn’t worked.This was on a Saturday, so the services would likely be closed until Tuesday as it’s a holiday coming up Monday) and they’d probably charge $300+D&M arrived on time and rather than just take us to the services which would take days and cost $, the operator did a jump for me and it worked. The whole process took five minutes and was a great experience.

Roadside Assistance subscription service called this local provider and paid directly on my behalf. I estimate the driver was on his way within 10 minutes of the call, which was great. D&M showed up with a full-length flat bed which was a nice plus. The driver was very friendly. The only thing was it was a little disconcerting to give my keys and car without some sort of receipt in return. No claim number, no reference number of any kind. Did not have a company ledger pad to write up something by hand. He gave me a business card but that didn't have his or anybody's name on it. He said his name was John. I had no documentation that I'd or met or released the car to him. I found another D &M Towing in San Jose, CA. Maybe my car was headed to a syndicate to be chopped up! In the end there were no problems, but eventually someone will have one. For example, what if there's accident damage to the vehicle during or after the tow? Or there's undercarriage damage? Or John retires and they hire an unscrupulous driver? Without proper documentation it would be ridiculously hard to resolve any issue that could come up.

After all the bad reviews I was really worried when I got towed by them. Completely my fault, but it sure ruined my morning! They were very kind. I had my car back 10 minutes after I got there. Absolutely no problem. My only gripe is that they will only take cash and won't give change, so I had to pay more than I owed.
