Gracie Barra Stafford has been an incredible experience for our 5-year-old! In just a little over four months, we've seen a remarkable transformation in his confidence and focus. The professors and coaches are not only skilled but also genuinely passionate about working with kids. They create a positive, energetic environment where learning jiu jitsu is both fun and empowering. Even on his off days, our son begs to go to class because he loves it so much. We’re beyond grateful to be part of such an amazing community.

The instructors are great, they keep the kids accountable and active.we have not been in the Northern VA area for very long, this was a great way to get my daughter active and meet new kids in the area. They offer a very friendly, clean environment for kids to learn and grow in their craft. Highly recommended.

I really think about this review and wasnt sure if I should say something, but I believe in this kind of classes Having a supportive and fair environment is crucial for both students and parents. I am not saying it is a bad place, and this place has many good points and like any other classes comes with pros and cons and unfortunately for us didn’t work. Main issue is the people who running the place are families, including husbands, wives, and their children, can create a complex dynamic. Unfortunately, favoritism and bullying among their kids can be distressing, especially for new students. It’s disheartening to see that the instructors sometimes ignore inappropriate behavior, especially when it comes to their kids! As a parent, I decided to remove my daughter. Ensuring a positive and safe learning environment is crucial for any educational setting. This is a place where students aren’t treated fairly and having a supportive and fair environment is crucial for both students and parents. We really liked that place and wish it was a better environment. My daughter really liked the place and some teachers but also, she was getting upset most of the time because of that reason and she is not spoiling and crying baby. She tried to be tough and not care but I see that was hurting her more than getting us what we were supposed to get from Marshal Art.

It makes a difference in the level of organization, the time and effort they expend with the kids at tournaments, and Professor Thiago’s continued personal commitment to training and competing.-Laser focus on safety: Wherever you train, you are trusting the instructors to provide a safe environment. As someone who has led high-risk training, I recognize the best practices implemented at this academy. When it comes to children, you are trusting your child’s safety to the instructors. Gracie Barra does an excellent job mitigating risk at all levels. Professor Thiago identifies potential risks and briefs the students on how to mitigate. Supervision is excellent. For children’s classes, almost every coach assisting the Professor is a parent with a child or children in the class. Professor Thiago puts thought into how he pairs up the kids, ensuring proper matches in terms of size, skill, and attitude. All these count towards keeping the academy safe. Several of us that train at the academy are older and have a lifetime’s worth of injuries. The culture of taking care of each other and the focus on safety make it possible for us to train hard without losing time to injuries.-The skill of Professor Thiago both as a practitioner and instructor: It matters that the chief instructor still competes. It keeps him current and sharp. It also matters that the chief instructor is a jiu-jitsu professional that has maintained a singular focus on jiu-jitsu as his life’s work over decades. All this contributes to the quality of instruction.
