After trying 3 different salons for my picky 13 year old wanting a shaggy Rockstar look we gave Onyx a try. Serena did a fantastic job! Everyone at the salons was super helpful and just the sweetest. The atmosphere is very unique and stylish. My daughter is so happy with her hair! 💗

I went for a hair cut with a photo and Katelyn charged full price for just a hair thinning and no style, with no shampoo and no blowout. Then the stylist applied 10% instead of the normal $10 discount. Trying a different stylist. We'll see.

First time experiencing Onyx Salon and I was soooooo beyond lucky to schedule with Melyssa. I brought my (older) child in for a new back to school look and could not be more happy. She listened to what my kiddo was requesting and absolutely delivered! Not only was it one of the best haircuts I’ve ever seen, she made my kiddo feel pretty and confident. I sincerely cannot say enough nice things about the staff as well. It feels like a little family in there. It is warm, inviting and INCLUSIVE down to asking for pronouns on the intake sheet. We have found our Salon. Thanks again Melyssa! I look forward to many years and many haircuts together with my kiddo 💜

Hyatt did an amazing job with my haircut!!! I was scared to take the leap with bangs and she reassured me and showed me how to style them at home! Also killed it with the layering and cutting out all the dead hair I had! Gave me some great advice and was really nice to talk to!! Will definitely be back! I included a before and after for reference

Kate did my hair today and I couldn’t be happier! She gave me a thorough consultation which made me feel comfortable because I have gotten my haircut by someone in years. She was very nice and showed me how to style it at home. She did an amazing job and I feel so pretty. I will definitely be back every few months to maintain this cut :) and everyone at this salon is so welcoming and nice. I love the atmosphere

I just got my hair done by Serena and I am so happy! I couldn’t find someone who could handle my gray curly hair until Serena. She explained every step she took in my style and educated me on what my hair needs and how to care and style my curls at home! Onyx Hair Studio and Serena are amazing!

I hate leaving a bad review but I recently had an awful experience at this salon. When I first became a client there, I started seeing Katy and she did a wonderful job on my hair. When Katy left unexpectedly, I asked what other stylist there is good with curly hair and highlights and I was placed with Jeanet. My first appointment with Jeanet was in April. At that time, my hair was almost to the bottom of my back. Jeanet told me that my underneath layer was longer than my top layer and that she needed to cut off that layer to even it out. I didn't want to lose my length but she said it had to be done so I agreed but asked her not to cut more than she absolutely had to. Well, she ended up cutting more than I wanted her to and she cut a lot off the top layer too so I ended up with short pieces in the front that I didn't want.
My second appointment with her was about a week ago. I told her it's already shorter than I'd like so to only trim it just a smidge. Once again, she cut way more than I wanted her to cut and she even did a blunt cut, which you should not do to curly hair. She straightened my hair at my appointment so I didn't realize how bad it was until a few days later when I washed it and it was curly again. I have been in tears because of how short it is and how bad it looks! It took me years to grow out my hair and now it's been butchered. My hair was almost to the bottom of my back when I first saw her, and now today it's barely past my shoulders. That's how much of my hair she chopped off! I am so upset, especially because the appointment cost me over $200! I wasted over $200 to have my hair completely ruined. The color isn't even as light as I wanted and half my hair is gone! I am so sad and disappointed and am stuck with this absolute mess until my hair grows back out, which for curly hair takes a long time! I reached out to the salon owner and she did offer to have another stylist fix it or to give me a refund.

When I first went to Onyx, I thought I had a consult booked, but it didn’t actually get booked on their end. Thankfully, Mel was there to see what it would take to make my goal of going red a reality, and I’m so glad she ended up being my gal! It’s taken some trial and error because my hair doesn’t always take color as anticipated, aaaand I’ve maybe changed my mind a few times, but Mel always rolls with my punches to make bring my hair goals to life. She’s so much fun to even just hang out with for a couple hours and I always look forward to my appointments with her. She also did my wedding hair and makeup, both of which I was very happy with. I’ve never had an issue with booking or with the other staff; they’ve always been very nice and welcoming. Highly recommend!
