My prescription is very complex with multiple aspects that make it a challenge even for an experienced lab. The routine optical departments found in big box stores take one look at it, and then tell me they cannot make the lenses. Prior to discovering Blue Ridge Optical, I had about half the lenses come back to me with errors in fabrication at the lab - by techs who click the numbers into a computer, which works for many people who have a simple prescription, but not if you have something other than run of the mill. I have found Chris Clark to be very knowledgable about all aspects of frames and lenses. There are several different makers of the lens blanks, and there are many labs who make them into prescription lenses, but most of them are geared to simple prescriptions. So, I rely on Chris to guide me through this maze of lens blanks, and his recommendations of labs, and even for which frame selections would work best (some frame styles cannot accommodate my prescription). In summary, if you require more in-depth assistance with your glasses, you will see better if you go to Chris at Blue Ridge Optical (he has offices both in Blacksburg and Roanoke).
