About Tucker Psychiatric Clinic
Tucker Psychiatric Clinic has received mixed reviews from its patients, particularly regarding its clinical care and front desk staff. Many patients praise the providers, such as Dr. Walter Jennings and his daughter, Kate Rae, for their compassionate and thorough treatment. Long-term patients appreciate the personal connections formed, noting that the staff treats them as whole individuals rather than just cases. Dr. William D. Kernodle and Philip M. Campbell also receive positive feedback for their attentive and knowledgeable care. However, some reviews highlight issues with the front desk and overall communication. Patients have reported experiences with staff that felt dismissive or unprofessional, which can be particularly harmful in a psychiatric setting. Concerns have been raised about the tone and attitude of the aides during phone interactions, leading to feelings of judgment when seeking assistance with medication adjustments. On the positive side, the clinic has been recognized for its supportive environment, especially during inpatient stays, where staff are described as caring and dedicated. Patients appreciate the focus on safety and the encouragement to engage in healthy activities. Overall, while the clinical care is highly regarded, there is a consistent call for improvements in the front desk and communication aspects of the clinic to enhance the patient experience.
15+ Year Long Patient Review
I have been a patient here for over fifteen years, starting under Dr. Walter Jennings. I want to be very clear that my concerns have never been with him or with his daughter, Kate Rae. Dr. Jennings treated me like a whole person, not just a patient. We bonded over food, joked around, talked about life, and he always checked in on how I was truly doing. His daughter, Kate Rae, has taken over beautifully warm, bubbly, easygoing, and genuinely committed to carrying on her father’s legacy. I appreciate them both and have nothing negative to say about their clinical care.
My concerns are specifically with the front desk, the aide,...read full review
I greatly enjoyed my provider at this facility but I followed her from another practice. When she left the practice, I was in the middle of a recent medication change and was told to come back in 1 month so I made an appointment with the recommended individual taking over her clients. He wasn’t available for almost 8 weeks so I made the appointment. Then the day before the appointment the practice cancelled my appointment due to the provider having an emergency which, is understandable. What is not understandable is not keeping room in the schedule to rebook clients due to provider generated issues for THREE MORE MONTHS. As I mentioned, I was in the middle of a medication...read full review
I just got out of Tuckers yesterday. And I need to say that whatever you want to call it, a mental hospital, or psych ward wtv. If you need to go there. Go there. Because they were the best to everyone. No matter what you say or do. That's not me saying their aren't rules. You will have consequences if you are mean. But they treat you like you are special. You shouldn't want to be mean. Because all of the rules are in place to make you and others safe. It's gonna be boring sometimes. But it forces you to find things to do, like socialize, or find healthy hobbies. It's not a vacation. It's a mental hospital. But this is by far one of the best. Thank everyone at tuckers...read full review
