I'm trans, and my glasses broke, causing me to wear an old pair that made me really, really dysphoric to tears. I arrived at the place, and immediately Maria at the front made me feel at home. Their energy and vibrance made a bad situation a lot better, and after I got my screw drilled out, Maria fixed my glasses and replaced my nose-pieces for free (please don't expect this and offer to pay, of course). They are a gem, and while I have insurance that won't allow me to shop here, if anyone doesn't have insurance or can shell out for top quality glasses and services, I'll be sure to recommend this place. If you have a smaller face like mine that makes it harder to find glasses that fit, Carytown Optical is a great solution. Even if you don't, I recommend you check it out, especially if you are looking for something different from what the national retailers carry. I live over an hour away from Richmond, but it is worth it for me to drive there because of the selection of glasses and because the owner, Cynthia, and her manager, Maria, have a great eye for what shapes, sizes and styles might look best on me. Maria and Cynthia have solved my long-standing issues with glasses! Based on my own experiences and those of other reviewers, it is clear that they truly work with their customers to make sure they are satisfied--both during the purchasing process and for the entire life of your glasses! When I first walked in, I could not imagine paying the price to upgrade my online glasses to designer frames, but now I cannot imagine anything less than the highest quality materials and most attentive, personalized service that I have found at Carytown Optical.
