LewisGale Physicians Women's Health Specialists provides a wide range of services for women's health, including maternity and obstetric care, family planning, gynecological services, and menopause management. The practice aims to support women from their initial visits through delivery and postpartum care, as well as the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of various gynecological conditions. Patients have access to numerous specialists and locations as part of the LewisGale network. Reviews highlight a mix of experiences. Many patients appreciate the attentive care from physicians like Laurie, who is noted for listening and providing thoughtful solutions. However, there are concerns regarding communication, particularly about billing and the clarity of diagnostic procedures. Some patients express disappointment over the lack of detailed cost information before services are rendered and the presence of religious items in the office, which they feel could detract from a welcoming atmosphere. Overall, while many have had positive experiences at LewisGale, there are areas for improvement to ensure all patients feel respected and informed.
I went in for my first visit this past week and I am so thankful that I went. John (receptionist), Katrina (nurse), Sherri (NP), and Dr.Howell all treated me like I mattered. Very compassionate & caring folks. I loved being that they took time to listen to me.
Highly , highly recommend😇
I scheduled an annual/pap with Sherrie as a new patient based off of some really great reviews I’d read. The practitioners I interacted with were nice enough, but there were two big things that really disappointed me about my experience:
1. An NP in training handled most of my appointment, with Sherrie only shadowing the exam itself. I would’ve appreciated a heads up ahead of time if the person I scheduled the appointment with was only going to be minimally involved with the appointment. While talking with the NP in training before the exam, there were points where she was more arguing with me about my experience than trying to listen to what I was saying. Once...read full review
While I've had positive visits in the past, my last visit was disappointing. The reason for requested diagnostics were not fully explained and there was no mention of billing so that I could make an informed decision. I should have read the forms more carefully, but it would be helpful for the physician and technicians to go over them verbally. I was told later that there was no way to no what the cost would be. However, I was given a bill promptly after the diagnostics with an amount. In other practices, such as optometrists, a full rundown of costs are given before you purchase an item. It isn't difficult. So, I find it unconvincing that a routine test and standard insurance deductibles could not be estimated beforehand. Another issue I encountered at this office during several visits was the display of a bible -- once in an exam room and later in the waiting room. I was told that patients sometimes leave items. But there was no indication that they intended to do anything about it. I find it hard to believe people randomly leave items in exam rooms without them being noticed and removed. I think it's important to create a neutral and welcoming environment for all patients, not just a select group. So, Lewis Gale Physicians apparently are either proselytizing or pandering. Neither is useful in a medical practice. I will likely be looking for an alternative that treats all patients respectfully, discloses costs, and communicates more effectively.
