About Royal New Kent Golf Club
Royal New Kent Golf Club, a public championship course designed by Michael Strantz, offers a unique experience inspired by Irish courses. The Strantz Pub provides indoor and outdoor seating with beautiful views of the 10th and 18th holes, serving lunch daily. The course is a one of a kind place in Virginia, truly feeling like playing in another country in a different era. Staff is friendly, attentive, and helpful, with a nice practice area and putting, chipping greens. Food is better than most for golf courses, above par. Carts, tees, fairways, and greens were all in great shape, complementing the very nice clubhouse and bar area with an outdoor patio. The course is a fantastic course, and the staff is wonderful. It is a very challenging course, requiring management of playstyle at every shot. This course does tend to favor left-handed golfers a little, but that's part of the challenge. It is recommended for those looking for a fun and challenging round of golf.
Easily one of my favorite, hidden gold gems on the MidAtlantic. Super friendly and accommodating staff, amazing and dramatic and well-manicured greens. Challenging holes and super comfortable pace of play. Don’t play here! Because I love it just the way it is: uncrowded and perfect!
First time to play this course, but I WILL BE BACK! Best fairways and greens I have played this year; everyone in eastern Virginia suffered from a harsh winter, but obviously the Royal New Kent management and maintenance worked together to recover to a beautiful course.
What a challenge! You feel like you are at a links course in Ireland with the fescue, rolling hills and deep bunkers. Long course definitely not for a walkers.
