In a word, Wow! Working with Tom Hensley at Modern Remodeling Inc was a breeze! Right from the initial consultation, Tom made me feel confident my home was in good hands. He was knowledgable on materials, scheduling, and what it would take to get this massive job done. I had a lengthy wishlist but no matter how fantastical the idea, Tom was up for the challenge! He certainly did the heavy-lifting during this massive project, often suggesting practical solutions based on his knowledge of the industry, or offering ideas I hadn’t considered before. I could cover a lot in my review, but I’ll focus on the top three things I was looking for in a contractor: Expertise, Budget-minded, and Communication. Expertise: My home was built in 1959, and although well-maintained, it was in desperate need of the standard modernization you see in newer homes today. We went into this remodel knowing the home was aging and that there may be some unseen hiccups as we started knocking through walls, pulling up flooring, or looking at electrical/plumbing/etc., so experience was going to be key. No matter the issue, Tom and his team were quick to react, take charge, and secure the most reasonable solution for the challenge(s) they faced. I was at ease knowing my home was safe. Budget-minded: Being a younger homeowner, I don’t have the benefit of longer-term investment capital, so keeping this project as close to the original contract quote was a priority. Tom stayed true to the original pricing model that we signed in the contract. Period. If I asked for something extra afterward, he either made it happen or let me know it would be a change order. Either way, he would give me the options I had, and he always worked with me to stay within my framework. Communication: I can’t remember exact dates, but when I first called Modern Remodeling Inc for an estimate, Tom was scheduled to be on-site within the week. From that moment on we were in regular communication, be-it texting, phone calls, or emails. He was fast to respond to every request and quietly worked on my project behind the scenes so that whenever I did reach out with a question, he was ready with an answer - oftentimes anticipating my needs in advance. That type of diligence only comes from high integrity, pride and genuine care for the work he does. Modern Remodeling Inc has cast aside old judgements and preconceived ideas of what it means to deal with contractors.
