Tom Richardson and his crew at the time built our home 13 years ago. It was our "dream" home that has turned into a bit of a nightmare and money pit. We liked Tom so much and he appeared to be very experienced. However we learned quickly after moving in that he (or his crew) cut corners that started costing us money and to this day is still costing us money to repair. At first he was receptive and made attempts to fix issues, mainly our metal roof. Then he quit trying and began ignoring us. Mistakes he made caused us to actually need a whole new roof when the home was only about 5 years old. We sued in small claims and won, but of course did not get back the entire cost of a new roof since small claims judgements are limited to $5000. Since then issues have continued to arise including most recently discovering our entire deck and staircase into the yard is rotting and unsafe. We now face thousands of dollars to replace the whole thing, and this is after paying Tom extra to supposedly shore it up extra strong to eventually put a hot tub on it. The issues at this point are just too numerous to mention and it is all very disheartening and frustrating. I have been told by other contractors that know him that he used to build really good homes but about 15 years ago seemed to stop caring about the quality of his work and began employing the cheapest labor he could get to keep the most money in his pocket. He sure fooled us, we really thought he was someone we could rely on. Save yourself a lot of trouble, look for another home builder.
