“Goose Creek Builders , Sean Burke Review

Sean Burke of Goose Creek Builders was recommended to me by Dean Saltus from Ideal Cabinets in Christiansburg. I had discussed with Dean that I wanted a replacement window and that I wanted to have the sheetrock taken down to replace the old pink fiberglass insulation with Roxul. Dean also mentioned that it is a good idea to upgrade plumbing and electrical at the same time.

Sean Burke is professional, polite and detail oriented. He is honest and his work ethic is outstanding. Sean prepares a detailed contract with a tentative timeline. I found this comforting because it protects both parties!

He manages his “subs,” which in my case were an electrician, a plumber, and the window store. He is present when they are working for the first time, and he follows through to ensure their jobs are completed. He only hires professionals and they do know their jobs.

He uses Ram Board to protect your flooring and uses plastic sheeting to segregate off the area from the other parts of the home to minimize the dust. Drywall work is dusty so this is awesome!! He uses only high quality paint.

When I had an issue with drywall tape failing/peeling off due to age (circa 1998), I asked him to put up crown molding on a vaulted ceiling as an option instead of trying to retape (otherwise I’d be dealing with it the rest of my life). He agreed to give it a try and he suggested using a corner block where matching the vaulted ceiling angles were challenging (he is a great carpenter). This took a bit of extra work for him but he accomplished it, it looks amazing, and I am forever grateful! I have mop ceilings and a bit of tape had come loose. He retaped it and did his best to recreate the mop ceiling texture and I was very pleased with the result. I did take pictures but they will not upload.

Then when the cabinets, countertops, and backsplash were completed he returned to see to it that all electrical and plumbing were functional. He then removed the Ram Board so there was no damage to my floors.

I would hire him again in a heartbeat and you will not regret hiring him!!“
