I discovered Bob's Leather & Shoe Repair a few days ago when I was looking to replace a rivet that had fallen off a pair of jeans. I took the jeans in yesterday and picked them up today--Bob did an excellent job and charged me only $5.00! I feel lucky to have found this place.
Going to Bob's Shoe Repair was a total accident. I had looked up shoe repair shops in the area and found Ace Shoe Repair. As it turns out, Bob's Shoe Repair has taken over the storefront for Ace Shoe Repair, but you wouldn't know it walking up because there's no official sign out front indicating the name of the store. So, I went inside and was shocked at the condition of the store. It was messy and disheveled. Shoes and other various things seemed to have been thrown everywhere. But, still thinking this was Ace Shoe Repair with a 3.5 star rating, I reluctantly left my expensive cowboy boots there to get polished and have some discoloration covered up. I looked up the storefront again later that night and realized what I thought was Ace was actually Bob's. And after reading the reviews, I was sitting on pins and needles throughout the entirety of my waiting period. But, when I arrived to pick up my boots, they were ready when he said they'd be and the boots looked better than I thought they would. Given the other reviews, the quality of work seems to be hit or miss. But if you're considering a shoe repair shop in the a Charlottesville area, I'd say keep an open mind and give Bob's a chance. I personally would not have if I had known what store I was entering, but Bob's pleasantly surprised me.
