Non-binary person here! I asked for a men's cut, I got a men's cut, and I got charged the men's cut price. Plus it was fast and exactly what I wanted. This is my new go-to place!
Best haircut by Tammy! She has a great memory for what her customers like, and I leave with the same haircut (and a complimentary bottle of water) every time! 5 stars for this establishment!
I went to this place for six years. The barbershop on base did not do a very good job. Most of the barbers at Family Barber took care of me over that time and did a good job. They were all polite and were very thorough. Ms. Mai and Ms. Vy we're excellent. After Ms. Vy left, Ms. Tran started taking care of me and her service was exceptional. I always believe in tipping well for good service and Family Barber did a great job. However, they advertised a military discount and there were many times Ms. Tran did not give me the discount even though she knew I was in the military. Some of the barbers did not stay very long and COVID did not help the business. But as soon as they reopened I was immediately a faithful customer again. Ms. Tran could be temperamental at times. I usually made appointments with her but if I came in unannounced she would get upset sometimes. There were also times when I would call for an appointment and she would tell me she wasn't going to be in. I would go in thinking I could use one of the other barbers and she would be there. When she saw me, she seemed surprised and frustrated. I'm not sure why she would lie to me and tell me she was not working. As mentioned earlier, I was a heavy tipper, but in the last couple of years with Ms. Tran, it seemed as if my tip was not big enough for her. The reason why I stopped going to this shop was that I retired and was hired on at a company in another state. About a month after I moved away I happened to be back in Alexandria for business. When I called the shop, I was told that nobody would work on me because I was Ms. Tran's client and she was on vacation. However, she was back from vacation when I was there and graciously took care of me. There does seem to be some drama that is always happening in the shop.. My new job brings me back to the area periodically and I would definitely go back to Family Barber. Mr. Le, Ms. Mai, and Ms. Tran are the best at what they do in my opinion. I wish them the best.
