I asked for a trim (and showed about 1.5-2 inches with my fingers) and some thin layers and got nearly 8 inches of my hair cut off. Hair used to be down to my belly button and now I have extremely choppy and shoulder length layers that are not well blended. I kept asking for thin layers and the hair cutter assured me they would be thin layers but now more than 60% of my scalp is now one choppy layer, no gradual layers. More of my hair is the short layer leaving the rest of my hair super thinned out now at the bottom I had to ask her to blend the layers on one side it looked like a jellyfish cut (with one hard line of layer) and then had to ask her to match the other side afterwards. I feel like I have the female equivalent of a mullet where the back is super long but thin and the front is slightly longer than shoulder length. All my front hair is cut super short and there is only long length in the back of my head (which are not layers at least to me). I did ask for a gradual V shape cut in the back which she sorta matched (although with much variation in length between layers) but she did not follow what I requested for a trim with thin layers. I also had to fix my face framing pieces as the left and right sides were uneven by an inch. I did not expect so much of my hair to be cut. It will take me years to get my hair back to the length it was and I wish I could go back before the hair cut. Appointment was rushed and spent less than 10 min on me, probably more like 7 min and I have (had...) a lot of hair to cut. Not for women's hair cuts but did great on my boyfriends hair which they spent over 45 min on for a hair cut and beard trim. Could have gone much worse I guess but this haircut is not what I asked for, despite voicing my opinion and concerns several times during the appointment. (Below are before and after images). Overall I am not sure exactly how much a trim means to some people but I do not think it is 6-8 inches off.
