You need to know this before you come. La Cantera is a BIG Texas resort, not really a “5 star luxury ROOM hotel.” I’ve been to those. This is not that.
The rooms are clean nice but touch oldish. Sliders didn’t work! At these prices first think you might find yourself wondering, “What exactly did I pay for? Not the room.
Then you walk around, you get it. WOW.
Great views, warm pools, Spa…etc. good restaurants, and acres of beautiful grounds. The adult pool(s) are relaxing. Kids will love the pools, not too deep to worry, my grandsons one swims the other learning. So it worked!

We stayed here this weekend with our 3 young kids and overall had a great time. As others have noted, the resort has multiple pools and a couple of small slides, and it's clearly popular with families. My one critique is around food options for families with kids. For dinner, the only quick option is a pizza counter serving frozen pizzas heated in a convection oven; otherwise your only choice is the sit-down restaurant (or a to-go order from it). Breakfast is similar, there's no quick-grab spot for something like cereal or a bagel, aside from one brand of cereal sold at the pizza counter. This place is a perfect escape! Everything feels very luxurious without being stuffy. The staff and service are top notch. Hector greeted us warmly, was incredibly friendly and helped us with our bags. Matthew, the server at Topaz pool, was constantly on the move checking in on everyone and making sure our drinks arrived very fast! I had an amazing time. High recommend!
