We had an extremely distressing and heartbreaking experience at this shelter during an emergency with our dog. She had recently given birth and had been rapidly declining for weeks—significant weight loss during pregnancy despite constant efforts to get her to eat, complete loss of appetite, and a dramatic change in behavior where she became distant, disoriented, barely responsive, and increasingly unsafe around her puppies.

After already seeking emergency veterinary care and exhausting our resources, we came to the shelter as a last attempt to do the humane thing for both her and her puppies. We were considering euthanasia because she was clearly suffering and not herself.

Instead of compassion or guidance, we were immediately met with judgment. We were interrupted repeatedly while trying to explain the situation and told it was “our fault” for breeding her, without being allowed to fully explain her condition.

At one point, when my husband asked what we were supposed to do—send her home in that condition knowing she was getting worse and unsafe with her puppies—the response we received was essentially yes. That was devastating and felt completely disconnected from the seriousness of the situation.

We left feeling judged, dismissed, and without support during one of the hardest decisions a pet owner can face. I understand shelters deal with difficult cases, but there should still be compassion and respect when people are trying to do right by a suffering animal.

called about three kittens i found and the guy who answered the phone told me i couldn’t bring them in and said they’d send someone out to come get them in 3 hours, they came 9 hours later and the lady said they were going to euthanize them immediately once they got to the shelter. the person who answered the phone NEVER told me that. don’t take any found kittens there because they’ll just euthanize them.

Staff was amazing, we adopted this beautiful loving bundle of joy. Make sure to check out there promotion where if the spurs win a playoff game your adoption fee the next day is waved. The vet complimented also how amazing of a job they spayed my kitten. They have a very large selection of animals waiting to be your forever family member!!!

ACS and District 7 are helping get the feral cats better controlled by getting females get fixed. Too hard to catch the males.
