The Texas Academy of Karate in New Braunfels is the best karate school in Texas and probably the US.

Kwan Jang Nim Brett Riley is the most dedicated instructor and dojang owner ever! He is always in a great mood and smiling and happy to see everyone. It is so clear that he loves the art, the school, and all the students! He is an amazing teacher and works with kids like no other teacher I have ever seen! His son, Master Marcus Riley, is also an amazing martial artist and teacher!

Yes, training is serious, but we also have fun! Now, all our friends seem to be at the dojang. It’s my second family, and I think most people who go there would say the same! It’s a close family environment and we love it.

My daughter started when she was just 4-1/2 and now she is 9 and will likely test for her black belt before she turns 10. What a difference this school and the masters Riley have made in her life! I’m truly grateful!

We have been training here for several years now, and it’s something we consider a permanent part of our lives and schedule things around our karate classes, and try not to miss a day. It’s that amazing of a place! It’s a family really, a way of life! All the families and kids who attends are wonderful and we have made life long friends here. All the instructors are great, and not only at teaching karate, but life teachings in general. Master Riley still amazes me after all this time. Not only the mastery of the material he teaches, but the way he teaches, the way he handles different situations, the way he communicates with and respects the students, including the young ones, the role model he is for the kids, and not only! It’s a wonderful atmosphere to bring up your children in.

A great place for the entire family! We have trained here for a few years now. Master Riley is a great teacher! Not only is this karate skills, but also self-defense, life skills, and character building.

Started 8 years ago with my daughters. We are all 2nd degree black belts now. Love Master Riley and all the Master Instuctors and Certified Instructors. Highly recommended for kids 5 and up. Great for kids to learn confidence, coordination, and self-defense. School has also trained world champion martial artists.

We were able to try out 3 classes first and found a great fit! We moved here 3 years ago and were in search for the style our son trained in. This style was the closest we could find to the Japanese Okinawan style in NBTX and in close proximity to us. We wanted a place that focused on the discipline and not on being macho. Think Mr. Miyagi vs John Kreese! We are so grateful for The Texas Academy of Karate. Master Riley (all of them 😂) is fantastic. All of the instructors are. We have also met some pretty amazing people.

We love the Texas Academy of Karate! Master Riley is an excellent instructor and my son has learned so much in his time there, including discipline and respect, which has carried over to other areas of his life. We highly recommend training here!
