So fill disclosure. My ex husband and I visited here a few years ago, and just walked in hoping to check out some artists work. I felt like the owner came off as standoffish and rude, which was a red flag for me, but he did explain that the shop is by appointment only. I stalked his art on social media for a while and finally took the jump and booked an actual appointment. I wasn't going to, because I felt like tattoo artists are still supposed to provide good customer service, but I'm so glad I gave the shop and the artist a second chance.
