Our mother died 6 years ago and they have yet to this day put her date of death on her headstone...which has been previously paid. So cheap and untrustworthy bunch of crooks. I will be reporting them to the state funeral home governing body. Eddie Zambrano, Son of Victoria Zambrano

They've taken 5 years to put our mother's date of death on the headstone. We bought it in 1993 when dad died. Mom died in November 2019 and they haven't touched it yet. Very poor service. They got paid, thats all they care about.

I'm sorry but I'm frustrated with this so I'm going to share... We lost our mom on Dec 14 suddenly... Eckols Funeral Home was chosen for her cremation... My dad decided he needed time away and was going to Dallas so before he left he and I went to Eckols. We met with a man by the nickname of Rooster. We spoke to him about dad leaving town and about an urn and so forth. Cost was discussed as well. Never once did this man say Mr Perkins there are forms to be signed and notarized. Never once were we told about permits. We thought the process was underway and she was in good competent caring hands. We were wrong. She still waits there and nothing has been done. It infuriates me. When we did finally find out about the paperwork my sister asked that the forms be faxed to Dallas so dad could take care of it. My sister spoke to a woman by the name of Barbara and gave Barbara a fax number and waited... My sister received nothing. Nothing! Not a follow up call either to be sure such important forms had been received. My sister called back to give more fax numbers bc we desperately need this paperwork... And what does Barbara do? She gets rude and ugly with my sister. Barbara is put off by having to write down more than a couple of fax numbers. Talk about lazy. Poor put out Barbara. Maybe she should consider retirement. So please make another choice when it comes to that difficult heartbreaking time.

When my dad passed away, the female who made sure our family was pleased with how he was presented, also made the process a little easier just by being so attentive. She made sure every wish was granted to the best of her abilities from the moment we walked in to visit on the day of his wake to the time we said good bye. Words could not express how appreciative I was for everything going so smoothly and especially for how comforting she was. Currently, there is a family friend being laid to rest and my mother is unable to attend the services. 48 years, she's looked for him and when they finally reconnect, he's called home. Needless to say she is devastated and trying to hold herself together the best she can. The man answering the phone (I guess in embalming), I am assuming has grown irritated with her many questions and attempts to contact her friend's children because I heard his tone and the things he said to my mother this morning when she tried one last time to catch one of the kids in passing/leave her number so they may call her. "I already told you. The obituary won't be out until next week. We have a weekly news paper here. You've called and called. I told you I would send you an obituary. I don't control the news paper." Now, imagine he's saying it in a sharp, passive aggressive tone. Those words may not seem harsh when you just read them, when your heart is broken and are calling for comfort, they are. She's been crying her eyes out for the past 30 minutes, sad because of her friend, feeling bad because she can't make it, and now, feeling like she's done something wrong for the man to talk to her the way he did. With tears rolling down, she said, "I thought they were supposed to be soft spoken because the people calling are usually grieving." I told her, "An a**hole will be an a**hole. Let him go about his unhappy life and try your best to remember today is about Punch and all the great memories you had, and that moment when y'all finally found each other again." She had even confronted him, saying, "Sir, you don't have to speak to me that way. I'm 73 years old and I lost my friend." He continued to speak over her. When it comes to their abilities, I believe this place does a great job. Customer service...I guess, just make sure this guy stays in the morgue and doesn't touch the phone cause the guy made my elderly mother cry today.
