Katy Tile was easy to work with, friendly, communicative and did an amazing job on all the work we needed. They worked on our kitchen backsplash, kitchen countertops, all new flooring on the first floor and bathrooms, and shower tile! Highly recommend!

From an AWESOME customer P.Brown: We hired Katy Tile to install the wood-look flooring for us. Approximately 2000 square feet. The manager, Jacob, showed up during the scheduled time for our visit, and was efficient in emailing us the bid by the end of the week. One concern when installing wood-look flooring is the grout lines. Most of the companies who came to give us bids said they would only do 1/8" grout line or larger, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. Most of them actually said the grout line would not even be 1/8th, but larger than that. This was annoying to us because when you install wood tile you want it to look like WOOD! The reasoning behind the larger grout line because wood tiles have longer dimensions than regular tile, and it's harder to get everything lined up perfectly straight (chalk-line straight). So floor people prefer larger grouts so that they can have insurance that they will lay their tile straight. To me, larger grout lines means the crew has less experience installing wood-look floors. Your selection of tile also affects the end-look of the floors. So I must mention what we used: We really liked the look of the Saddle Brown tile from Home Depot's Marrazi line. It was well cut and straight. Because this tile is so straight and well made, we knew we could have something smaller than the 1/8" grout. Also, another consideration with installing the longer wood-look tile is the evenness of the subfloor. Our concrete was actually pretty even and flat (when you lay a large level on it). Many contractors who gave us bids wanted to pour a type of product that spreads out, flattens out and levels your floor. You can imagine that this is also an extra up-cost. We really felt that our concrete was pretty level, and that this would be un-necessary. So, with these issues in mind (the grout lines and the level floor), I was very impressed with Katy Tile's work. They have a special team (Abel and 2 other guys) who ONLY install wood tile. So yes, this team really knew how to handle the longer dimensions of wood tile. They took the tile and butt them up to each other, making the grout lines smaller than 1/8"! The grout they used was non-sanded, so that allowed the grout to fit between the thin grout lines. To help level the floor (because all concrete floors have some sort of uneven sections), they use a thick layer of thin set. This makes it easier to level the tiles. Once the tiles were all set and ready for grout, they painstakingly used a razor blade to clean out all of the tile gaps so that the non-sanded grout could be poured on top, evenly. Abel laid most of the tiles while his team did support work. Abel used very little equipment (as far as a level, etc.) when he worked, and it quickly became clear to us that he had VERY good touch and feel for his work. He was excellent. I cannot express how pleased I am with Katy Tile! Their work for the wood-looking tile was affordable and efficiently done. Because they use one special team to do the wood-looking tile, I did have to wait 3 weeks for them to have an open schedule to do our job. But I was fine with this. Finally, I was also impressed with how polite the crew was. Having strangers in your home can sometimes be uncomfortable, but they always showed up bright and early (around 9 am), and they literally cleaned up every stitch of trash from lunch and any furniture they had to move in my house. They were very courteous. After the work was done, the floors were swept and wiped down, equipment was hauled off, and they were simply awesome. I highly recommend this company! Thanks Katy Tile!
