I dropped in yesterday for a visit and felt this is the type of place that deserves a quality review.
I've been to many privately owned gyms, and while there's an abundance of facilities that have that iron-everywhere, old-school aesthetic that fitness folk crave as much as their pre-workout, most of them feel about as welcoming as a dentist’s waiting room. Likewise, the staff at a lot of these hard-core old-school gyms are about as helpful as the DMV's help desk on a Monday morning... But I digress...
That said, this place was different in the ways you'd want, yet the same in areas you'd want to keep. For instance, the staff were actually friendly, competent, and—brace yourself—seemed to enjoy being there and helping others.
The members were welcoming, the energy had an actual pulse, and the atmosphere felt like a place where people want to show up. It’s that rare intersection of serious training and real community, the gym equivalent of finding a restaurant where the food is great and the regulars welcome you without unnecessary judgements or odd new-kid treatment.
In short, this isn’t just a standard gym with good equipment and strong people. It’s an iron chapel with a congregation worth joining. The type that meets you where you're at, but is equally excited to see you become more.
Highly recommend this place for picking up heavy things and putting them down...

Was going there a year or so and twice two grumpy angry woman came yelling saying I didn’t wipe machines down that they going to cancel my membership “yes yelling “very unprofessional and both times I did wipe down the machines. I didn’t know I had to check with them everytime I cleaned my machine just a bad start to the morning someone yelling accusing you of something when they are 100% wrong and if the owner is reading this check the cameras on Oct 8 7:01ish only male in there I had a sprayed down pink rag before I started then wiped down the machine after.

I'm so happy to know that our community has gym options. This gym has everything needed to maintain or start a fitness journey! The staff members are amazing! The manager is there 24/7 and doesn't mind being petted! (I'm talking about the orange cat 🐈😺)...Thank you Raise the BAR Fitness for being welcoming to all! 💪🏾

Changing my review and score --
For transparency, the original review was regarding multiple payments taken from our accounts well after the cancellation. I tried reaching out to the gym first but my call was missed, so I started a dispute process with my bank.
To my surprise, Heather contacted me back directly an hour or so later and immediately started the refund process for both accounts. She was very understanding and polite the whole time. Given how difficult it can be to break free from gyms, this was a very positive change.
At this point I can say I would recommend the gym based on it's pricing and equipment. Just be vigilant about the cancellation process just in case a mistake happens that no one catches.

Stay as far away from this place as possible.
I’ll start with the quality of the gym before giving my personal story. This gym is mediocre to say the least. It’s an open gym so for one there is not air conditioning. The equipment is outdated and is constantly breaking and take a long time to get fixed. Their layout is not convenient and isn’t logical, they rearrange the gym constantly and it’s annoying. They have multiple of the same machines that no one uses but the most used equipment only has one of each. So even though this gym isn’t very busy, just having a handful of people in there you have to wait super long to use the machines you want. Classes are weak quality and have no customization. Their employee turn over rate is super high especially for a local business. Staff is not very knowledgeable at all. Gym stereo is not monitored and half the time going in here you’d think a rave was happening and even with my headphones on full blast could still hear it. No to mention anyone could put anything on they want so lots of profanity in the music choices. Also might want to avoid if you are allergic to cats. There is a cat that roams around this place. I didn’t mind the little guy, and they are next to an unmaintained open field so it helped with their rat problem. However he likes to bring his catch of the day in to the gym and leave it on the floor. Had to notify the employees multiple times. As far as faculties are concerned, they don’t exist here. No locker rooms, no sauna. Just a mens bathroom and womens with like 2 stalls and lockers against the wall. If you are training professionally, this place won’t even come close to cutting it. I would recommend literally anywhere else.
Now to get to my personal experience with this place. After seeing 2 unexplained charges from this gym I had tried to reach out. The only number for this gym is the owner heathers personal cell phone. There is no phone on site. And she never picks it up. I put out a post in the community page to see if maybe they were part of an annual fee. The owner only then reached out to tell me to remove my post and that I was charged late fees. According to my statement for all months I was paid up. So of course I said that but was told she couldn’t help me and I would have to speak to someone else the next day. Without responding to my last messages she went to my post to say that she had already told me I was past due and that my membership was cancelled and that I was only sharing half the story. She retaliated against me for asking questions essentially and then when she was catching flack from the internet decided to delete her comments. Surprising there were some supporters despite the situation, but after looking at their profiles they are actually employed there. Seems pretty fishy right? So after her putting my personal info on the internet she made my full week a nightmare trying to get this fixed. Would not call me back made 1000 excuses for herself. And when I did connect with her accounting lady and showed all proof of payment she tried change the story and say my regular charges were for something else. Then tried to refund my timely payments so that the could hold on to the so called late fees. They refused to provide any documentation on the matter, no invoices statements. Nothing. Now are completely unresponsive. This is fraud at its finest and the most unprofessional establishment owner I have ever dealt with in my life. After my mistreatment was public. I had numerous people from the community reach out to me privately to share there story. Some others commented publicly saying they were charged hundreds of extra dollars, unexplained. The people who reached out privately had very similar stories and seems like they were low key afraid of the owners retaliation. Heather the owner has no right to have a business with the lack of professionalism and inability to control her emotions and bad temper. Please do get over yourself and have a little respect for the community you pretend to serve. Again S
