About Equinox River Oaks

Equinox River Oaks is not just a gym, but a well-being temple that offers an unmatched member experience. The spa provides excellent facials, such as the one received from Randa, leaving skin glowing and rejuvenated. The gym features impressive equipment and a light setup that enhances workouts. Staff and trainers are generally commendable, with a few exceptions promptly addressed in a professional manner. The membership fee may seem high, but the convenient and immaculate dressing rooms, top-notch equipment, and friendly staff make it worthwhile. However, the inconsistently functioning steam rooms detract from the experience.

I was a member of this gym for 3 years and thoroughly enjoyed it the whole time. I took a variety of fitness classes: yoga, barre, and the occasional HITT class and the instructors were consistently great. Really enjoyed all of the people here from the front desk to the group class instructors, all around very pleasant folks. Only leaving because I left the city but definitely would recommend for someone looking to try different fitness classes and really learn what works for them.

I'm not lying when I say this gym is one of the things I miss most about Houston.

I recently started training at equinox, honestly as someone who has never worked out before or been to the gym I was very nervous going into it and where to start. They have a program that comes whenever you sign up for the membership where they do a full body checkout and talk to you about your goals and help you plan it out and even match you with a trainer, I got matched with Desmond and I have to say it has made my starting experience with working out and equinox in general amazing. He is a great trainer will help you with everything you need and is extremely friendly and easy to talk to, my journey with Desmond as a trainer has been amazing and highly recommend him...read full review

This gym has the potential to be a great gym, however falls short when it comes to the staff, particularly the personal trainers. While the gym is very small, it is hard to complain about this as you know what you are signing up for when touring it. However, what you don't realize is how cramped and unusable the gym becomes due to the insane amount of personal trainers that are all training clients at the same time. During the busy times, early morning and early evening, there will be up to 15-20 trainers all training clients at the same time in a very confined and limited space. They all try and use multiple pieces of equipment at once, which is horrible gym etiquette. They will set their tablet on a bench press or other popular machine and wander off and use another piece of equipment while the rest of the members are left waiting. If you do sign up, be expected for them to try and bully you out of equipment you are using. They feel extremely entitled to use whatever they want, when they want, and don't care if its being used. You need to just say no and not let them bully you out of what you are doing. The worst offenders are James, Michael and Geronimo. They have no respect for other members and will attempt to take over the machines during their training sessions. What makes it worse, is they do this behavior during their own personal workouts. I understand trainers working out on their personal times, however I find it insane that trainers think its okay for members to pay over $200 a month to wait around while they use 5-10 pieces of equipment at once for their own personal workout. The entitlement is beyond anything the members have. will say some of the trainers are super respectful and helpful. They do not try and monopolize or bully you out of equipment and seem to genuinely care. As a woman who is trying to get into the fitness world, this is helpful. The locker rooms are clean and the staff is nice, and the members are all very respectful and nice, with the exception of the owner's son who exhibits worse behavior than anyone. This place has potential, just falls short.
