After an already bad week, I was looking forward to the weekend when I noticed Saturday afternoon Harold wasn’t being himself. He was lethargic and when I got him to stand, he would remain in a squatting position I now know is referred to as “posturing” in the vet world. As you can imagine, the only places open were animal ERs, so I took him. It’s unfortunately common for urinary obstructions to occur in male cats. Their urethra is tiny, so any form of blockage can get bad quickly. I was informed that Harold was barely able to pee, but the fee to give him the most necessary care to remove the blockage would be minimum $4k. When I tell you I sobbed and contemplated taking my savings and throwing it at them, I was back and forth. They told me it might not even work and he’d pass back there in the hospital. I spent the next few hours believing my sweet angel boy was going to die. I opted to bring Harold home with medication that he responded really well to! He was behaving so normally, it was shocking. I scheduled him for the earliest appointment I could get on Tuesday at noon. But then Tuesday morning came. He showed the same signs he had Saturday which then progressed throughout the morning. I was absolutely devastated. I got his appointment moved up an hour and rushed him to the vet where I sat for nearly 2 hours before I was spoken to, only to be informed that they could not help me there. I was inconsolable at this point and called every low cost vet the original ER gave me the numbers for. We found a Best Care and they offered every service we were told would be necessary, so my boyfriend and I packed him back up and took off. Harold’s appointment was at 4, we got there at 3, and they saw him almost immediately because I wore my fear and sadness like a mask at this point. They treated us with so much care and sympathy the entire time he was in the hospital. He got complimented for being so sweet, my strong little boy. Harold was put into hospital care at 4:00PM Tuesday and we were able to get him home by 3:00PM Thursday. He’s happy and healthy and purring in my lap as I type this. I find myself excited by a used litter box that I clean multiple times a day now. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Shoutout to Rebecca in reception, the technician I mainly spoke to, Adrianna, and Dr. Jimenez. I know they were just doing their job, but they brought my boy home to me
My dog loves this place. The last place she would fight to go in and would grawl at them. This place she pulls me to the door and greets all of the staff. Very detailed on every aspect and the prices are reasonable.
