I amazing experience. Is so nice to see how they are focused in helping a endangered species to survive :)

I finally made it out there yesterday. This is a birding paradise. I walked both trails and did the auto tour as well. All so beautiful n amazing! Am thinking about going back next week. Can’t wait!

This is an amazing place to view lots of wildlife and wildflowers and of course, see the endangered Attwater Prairie Chicken. I enjoyed the bus tour and I would definitely recommend attending their Spring festival and arriving early for your best chance of seeing and hearing the Prairie Chickens. It was an awesome experience.

We really enjoyed seeing the prairie chickens—that was definitely the highlight of our trip. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The refuge tour repeated much of the same information we had already heard earlier when we were taken to the platform that morning. It also felt like the tours were less frequent or overlapping more this year, which made planning difficult.
We never got to see the two mascots, which was a letdown, and there was only one food vendor, which wasn’t very good. Overall, the 2025 experience was significantly better—honestly, it felt 100 times more engaging and well-organized. I really hope the 2027 event brings back that same energy and atmosphere.
The vibe this year just wasn’t the same. It felt less engaging, and even some of the naturalists mentioned they didn’t have much additional information to share—one even said they had never been on the route we were taking. Last year, we had an incredible staff member from the refuge who gave a detailed, engaging tour that made the whole experience memorable.
That said, this morning’s trip to the platform with Jade/Jen was fantastic. She did an amazing job guiding us and really made the effort to secure access to the new platform location pay off—we saw so many prairie chickens! Her tour was truly excellent and a bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming experience.

A great place to visit if it is just to relax. But, great for other activities. Photography is one good activity.

We came to see the short-eared owls and they did not disappoint. This place is magical towards dusk. The quiet solitude of the Prairie is magical towards dusk.

I didnt realize what it was all about. A very interesting visitor center. Lots of routes to follow and walk or ride all around.
