The review is for the French Room Bar (open until midnight). We stayed at the Adolphus Hotel so we went to the bar for a nightcap.
I do recommend the Adolphus because of the beauty, history, and amenities. But I do have some things to say as a warning to those who are thinking about staying here. It might not be for you. Before booking at the Adolphus, I read all the reviews on google. Some were amazing, some were not so good. I thought it was fishy, but I like to give anything the benefit of the doubt. Before we left, I got an email saying that we had an upgrade available. I called the front desk and the lady was so kind! She found out it was for my boyfriends birthday and offered to bring up champagne and birthday goodies after check in. I got so excited! It put all of my worries about the reviews I read to the side. When we arrived, we got confused about valet. You have to go *IN* the parking lot to have your car parked and the parking lot/tower is before the hotel on the left. Keep in mind, it is dead center of the city. So if you don’t like traffic or people, I’d say it’s safe to say this hotel is not for you. Once we set into the Adolphus… I have no words. It was so, so, so beautiful!!!! There was so much to see! I was most excited about the Rodeo bar, the coffee shop, and the piano (it’s sister sank on the titanic). The history, amenities, and beauty left me speechless. At check in, they offered us champagne or beer. We declined as we had just finished a 6 hour drive and we’re tired. But still, such an awesome thing to offer at no price! The elevators are not as bad as people have said. They are clearly original to the hotel, but I loved them and they seemed safe the four times we used them 🤷🏻♀️ We got to our suite and I was so excited for my boyfriend to get the knock at the door and have his birthday goodies delivered but after waiting for an hour, it never arrived. I went to call to ask about it but there was no phone. In its place was a letter letting us know that their phones were down and they would be working on it. They listed a number to the front desk. I called and it rang and rang for 5 minutes. While I was on the phone my boyfriend looked on gps to see how long it would take us to get to Fort Worth for the George Strait concert. Before I booked, the gps said 30 minutes. When he checked then and there it was almost a 1 hour drive because of the traffic. In no way am I saying that is the hotel’s fault, but unfortunately because we had to get ready immediately I had to hang up the phone and we never got Tanners birthday goodies. It was very disappointing for me, especially because I hyped it up that he had a surprise coming. All said and done. It was a great stay, but some things to keep in mind: the snooty and the rich come here and are so entitled. The staff would be better to handle all guests if there wasn’t so many wealthy and rude people making demands and making those who are obviously poorer than them wait because they are “more important”. The staff try their best. You can see it. When we checked out this morning there was a woman who came out to wait for her Mercedes after tanner and I had been waiting for 15 minutes. The ballet was told on the walkie-talkie to bring her car around first, “move her to the front” was what was said. While she waited next to us, some time went by and she said to her friend “I don’t know if I’ll tip, I’ve already been waiting here for 7 minutes”. They both laughed. While it may have been a joke, it gives you an idea of what goes on here. If you aren’t someone special or have money, you’re just kind of on your own. Another thing, make sure you have time! We were barely in the hotel because of the traffic issue. We never got to go explore the hotel therefore we missed out on the rodeo bar, coffee shop, and all the cool historic pieces though I did get to check out the piano. So just make sure you have the time or else it’s pointless to stay in such an expensive hotel. You’re paying for not only the hotel, but the pool top bar, amenities, freebies, and history. And it’s just not worth it if you can’t experience all of it. I wish traffic wouldn’t have been so bad. I feel as though I missed out on
