It's sad to hear the news that CCC is closing its doors. I'll tell you my experience anyway If any of you ever follow Infinite Elgintensity, you'll see that there's no love lost between him and crossfit. His videos are all Cobra Kai on the crossfit community "no mercy." But then there's Joe. The man, who in my humble opinion, is the gold standard of what separates working out from training. I could easily plop down a few bucks at Gold's with a trainer, wait in line to use the squat rack, but some girl is using it to post pics on IG. I guess I could get some cardio by racing other people to the weights. Sure, but why would I? You don't get that nonsense at CCC. There's weights, squat racks, etc to get going. Just remember, I stepped through those doors, and Joe greeted me. It was like entering the Jedi temple and being greeted by one of the Master Jedi. Doing the Jedi Mind Trick, Joe waved me over. We went through the whole spiel, and I won't lie and say I wasn't mesmerized. This was the real deal right here. Medic in the army, several tours, worked with other soldiers to help them pass PT, etc------all on the list. I was thinking a year with this guy, and I'll be like Anakin Skywalker. I went in there weighing about a deuce and a half, and I left there a little under a deuce. I went from knowing what a pullup looked like to pulling off weighted pullups. I was deadlifting 380. There wasn't a moment in time when I remember pulling off these feats. After doing those pullups I felt like I could just say screw it and Tarzan my way home, but there weren't enough vines. Real talk, I look at myself at my last day there and think that was my peak self. Damn that's messed up. My peak self should be in the future not the past, right? Now I have to rethink my life. J/K I have to find a new place, but damn CCC is hard to beat
This gym is the best. I have been to other gyms in the area but often felt lost and often not important; or they went the extreme other way and pushed me to lift heavier than I should have. I have never felt that way at here. I have only been to three of the coaches classes but they are all incredible patient and encouraging. I am also down 4 % body fat which it another reason I love this gym. The nutrition program is amazing. I actually eat so much food its obnoxious. I really needed this place. I was in a really bad place but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel get nearer and nearer.
I have been going to this gym for almost 3 years. Started out not being able to run or do full squats.. The coaches understood my limits and adjusted my workouts not to limit my ability to grow stronger but to also strengthen what was weak causing my issues. I had been going to doctors for 10+ years for knee pain and just in a years time we worked on strengthening my muscles around my knee and I felt the difference and was running and squatting.. This was without 1on 1 classes. They gave me so much knowledge and being consistent and focused on my training got me there. Now at the almost 3 year mark i injured my back and they are doing the same to get me back to being...read full review
