“Nick is an experienced, thoughtful professional. We've had him work on both painting and construction/repair projects. He explains what he is doing and why, with clear knowledge of construction technique. This includes a complicated recent repair to our roof/attic space; he understood construction principles and was able to do an impressive job with this (see photos, and details below).

He also communicates well; he will give his opinion, but makes sure our wishes drive the project.

His charges are fair; he is extremely ethical and in fact protective of our property when he is here. I have worked with him on several projects, and can sincerely say I trust him.

As for the details of the recent project, my attic space had previously had inadequate struts holding up the roof over the garage. This was in our inspection report when we bought the house, but we had not gotten around to fixing it, when part of our ceiling fell down during a recent storm. Nick was able to diagnose what was needed for struts and support, and construct very sound struts as illustrated. The sheetrock had been badly damaged, so he also removed the damaged sheetrock and expertly installed new sheetrock. We are very happy and feel safe with the repair.

He has done sheetrock work for us at a previous house, and painted our entire current house when we bought it in 2022. So we called him again when this happened with our garage. We are obtaining an estimate from him to paint our exterior, and look forward to working with him again.“

He really went the extra mile when he noticed a leak in the kitchen and got it locked down until my husband could come by and address the problem. He was also unhappy with how the paint turned out on the patchwork he had done for us on the first job so he added another coat of paint on his own time so it would look just right. We so appreciated this attention to detail. Shawn is a man who stands by his work, which these days can be hard to come by! We have definitely found "our handyman" and would highly recommend Handyman Express to anyone with a to-do list of projects around the house. I have already given his name to several friends, neighbors, and colleagues and will definitely be calling him again when the need arises.“
