Even though the posted hours show Saturday there is no doctor they are only open for boading.

I don’t normally leave negative reviews because I understand how much impact they can have on a business, but I feel it’s important to share my experience so other pet owners can make informed decisions when choosing a vet.

I want to be clear that my dog is large and not the easiest patient when it comes to vet visits. That said, I believe that if a vet feels they can’t properly examine or diagnose an animal, they should refer the pet to someone who can.

I initially brought my dog in because he was limping, and I suspected arthritis. Dr. Bailey told me it was a torn ligament that would require an expensive surgery. When I asked if an X-ray had been performed to confirm this, he said no — that in all his years of practice, he had never been wrong. Since my parents had used him for years without issue, I trusted his judgment.

Because of the high cost of surgery, my only option was to keep my dog on anti-inflammatory medication. He was able to get around for a while, though still limping, until one day I came home from work to find him in visible pain and unable to move. It was the weekend, so I took him to another local vet. They immediately performed an X-ray and discovered that my dog did not have a ligament problem at all — he had a fractured leg that had weakened over time and ultimately broke.

I understand that mistakes can happen, but I believe this one could have been avoided with a more thorough examination or appropriate referral. My hope in sharing this is simply to encourage others to ask questions and ensure their pets get the careful attention they deserve.

I board my dog here at least two weekends out of the month.
The facility is clean and the staff is always helpful and friendly when you come in.
My dog is always excited to see his staff friends and he gets a good wash from the groomer who always does a great job.
He now gets medical care there as well and I’m overall very pleased with the services they have provided.

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Austin Avenue Pet Clinic, where unprofessionalism and poor management were evident at every turn. From the initial booking process to the final checkout, the service was riddled with dishonesty, disorganization, and a complete lack of customer care.

When making my reservation over the phone, I was quoted a specific price multiple times. However, upon checkout, I was overcharged with no reasonable explanation, and management was not only unwilling to acknowledge their mistake but displayed a rude and dismissive attitude when confronted. This kind of bait-and-switch pricing is unacceptable and reflects a serious lack of integrity in business operations. A company that cannot honor its own quotes demonstrates incompetence and an outright disregard for its customers.

Additionally, the reception staff rushed me through the paperwork process in an unprofessional and discourteous manner. I was asked to complete detailed forms for two dogs—each requiring extensive history and personal information—yet the receptionist demanded completion four times within just five minutes. This kind of pressure not only creates an unnecessarily stressful environment but also indicates poor workflow management and a lack of respect for clients' time.

Beyond the service issues, the facility itself appeared outdated, with aging equipment and a general lack of upkeep that made me question the quality of care being provided. For a business in this industry, maintaining a clean, modern, and well-equipped facility should be a priority, and unfortunately, Austin Ave Pet Clinic fails in this regard as well.

Overall, my experience was frustrating, disappointing, and unprofessional from start to finish. I will not be returning, nor would I recommend this business to anyone looking for reliable and respectful service. A business that disregards transparency, professionalism, and customer service does not deserve repeat patronage.
