Shout out to the traditionalists at Hancock Barber Shop! Not having been to Hancock in a few years, I'm really thankful I passed up the chain cutters to support local today. My last haircut was in February. My next one will be at Hancock. Thanks for the treatment and chair time.
Great, traditional barber shop where everyone is welcome and treats you like a friend and neighbor. Most regulars have a favorite barber and they are all excellent. Great place to talk and relax.
I've lived west, south, and now east Austin and I have tried out lots of barbershops over the years. I like the traditional, no-frills kind of place I remember from my childhood. Those places that charge $45 and give a "free" PBR aren't the kind of barbershops I have wanted. So I was excited to discover the Hancock Barber Shop to the right of the Hancock HEB. It's been hidden in plain sight to me all these years. I walked on in and the interior is the look I remembered of barbershops as a kid and they had the Grit TV station on playing old westerns. A men's cut was $18 (cash only). After a short wait, I got into the chair and the barber went to work and gave me my favorite haircut in a long time.
