This is for Emily. I came in with a Groupon for the Sculpt Pod because A. I am trying different things since I am new to town and B. It's a cheaper way to try things that you may or may not stick with but want to check out...I was honestly worried I'd be treated differently because of the Groupon. I've been to a few places that are really rude when you mention Groupon which I'm really confused about because don't they have to agree to partner up? Anyway, it's like the taboo word in most places. Emily immediately helped me set up all my appointments. She never treated me less than because I was a first time customer and Groupon user. I've had to rearrange a few appointments due to scheduling and weather. Emily never acted bothered by it and was very helpful in rescheduling. I called last minute due to weather and icy roads - she was understanding and kind. I can totally see her being misunderstood because at first she seems quiet but honestly, I really truly appreciate her diligence and making me feel comfortable when I completely wasn't walking in for the first time. Thanks Emily (if you see this) for being you, you're awesome and appreciated.
I've been going to this salon for almost a year. Absolutely love love love this place. Always reliable, high quality and SUPER clean/hygienic. After being to sooo many salons here in Texas, I struggled to find a place that does good haircuts. Melanie Tawater (the owner) is THE BEST man - she just gets it. Always cares about her clients and the quality of the work she and her stylists put out. There were days when I had to have emergency hair fixes and she they were always very accommodating. Hair care is such a critical thing that's often overlooked, but this place makes it soo easy. I also happen to like the skin products they carry - SkinCeuticals is my favorite. Makes my face feel good and hydrated. I would absolutely recommend this place for high quality and affordable hair care.
Update: I now have a new stylist. I think Leah LaRue is a pretty cool chick. My only problem with my services with her were that whatever color she uses does not cover gray hairs, so after two washes I'd be back to where I started. She also wasn't great at keeping color off my skin, but I was able to go home, use some nail polish remover and get it done. She's still young so I think with time she will be amazing. Look...I do take reviews seriously. I didn't get that glittery gold badge of Yelpdom for nothing. If you follow my reviews though, you'll also see I'm a big fan of trying places that some don't care for. I've had the best tacos at a gas station that, at the time of my reviewing, held less than stellar ratings. I've found serious nachos in some sketchy AF neighborhoods. Hell...you've seen the lengths I go to for pho in every state I visit. I think I legally married some guy in Memphis to get at some eye of round noodle bowl. Did all those places have 5 stars? Dude...I think one was like below the stars...I think Yelp created a negative star for a couple of them. No. I use Yelp as a tool, not a toolbox. There are people on here whose advice I trust. That's why we are friends. I know they won't let catch typhoid fever or Hep C if I think that adult bookstore who also is serving brunch is a good place (true story bro). But what I do know is that most reviews on Yelp are either really horrid or really great. There's no in between and when people hate, it's like they pass around a jug of Haterade. (I keep picturing the Koolaid guy breaking down a wall and going "Aw Hell Nah") I say this because I just got my hair "did" with Leah LaRue and yeah, she's got some haterade on here. Did I look at those? Yep. Did I decide to give her a try anyway? Hells yeah. I was fully prepared to go "she sucked, my hair sucks, you were right, I suck" but oh no child: MY HAIR ROCKS. She got it to the color I wanted, told me what she used to make it look like I'm Tom Brady's other secret mistress (he likes a girl with meat on her bones in the off season. Duh) and was extremely kind and professional. I've even got a follow up. I'm not only damn happy with my hair, I'm also damn happy with that experience. Mimosas? Yes all day. Moral: Don't get typhoid but take a chance every now and then. Sometimes hairdressers and tacos surprise you.
