I hired Shane Tolly to trim two trees. To say the least, this is the most useless person I have ever done business with. He is not a tree trimmer, he is a scam artist and preys on others with his smooth talk and lies. I signed a contract with Shane on 5/20/23 and he quoted a price of $1400.00 to trim the two trees. He said he would need $490.00 down before starting the work. I paid him $500.00 down and he was to get started on Monday5/22. I have not seen him since. I texted him for over a month but he kept giving excuses. Finally I filed criminal charges of theft under $1000.00 in Carter County He did show up for court and gave the judge a song and dance. We hired Shane to cut 2 beech trees from the start it was a disaster. He was to be at our house at 9am, he didn’t show until 3pm. We gave him a check for the deposit. He didn’t have the correct tools with him to start the job and left to go get them. We ran into him cashing our check at our bank instead of getting what he needed to start the job. He texted later and said the place had closed early. We agreed that he could come after the weekend to start. I took off work to be home he had an excuse for not showing and said he would be here Wednesday. My husband took off work to be home there again another excuse for not showing up. Dealing with Shane has been nothing but aggravation. He quoted me $1200 to cut 2 trees. He came out on May 24th and required a $400 deposit which was fine with me. But as soon as I paid him he said his rope wasn’t long enough and was going to go get one real quick. Well instead of getting a rope he was at my bank cashing my check. He didn’t cut a single limb and He didn’t come back that day. He promised he would be there on the following Tuesday, no call no show. Finally got him on the phone Wednesday he had another excuse and said he would be there Thursday, again no call no show.
