He came over to repair my dishwasher, which ended up not making "the noise" while he was here. It turned out to be a bottle top that was stuck in the motor, which my husband I eventually figured out pulling it apart ourselves one night when it randomly started grinding again. Even though he never actually had the opportunity to work on the dishwasher, the repairman said that I could call back at any time if the sound returned.
