Superior Custom Homes and Remodeling

Built our custom home with Superior in Brentwood, Tennessee in 2023. We love everything about it! Incredible experience, loved the design process, loved meeting with their vendors. We aimed to make the house look like it had always been there. Complete handicap accessibility for our son in a wheelchair. Zero-entry showers, elevator, etc. Built an inside gym and rock climbing wall. 3 years later we are still very pleased with everything.

These guys are the best.
I hired them in 2023 to build our new home and the process could not have gone more smoothly. One thing I'd like to note is their integrity. If you've ever built a house you know that there are fixed costs (concrete, brick, lumber, trades IE plumbing, electric, etc.) and then there are allowances (countertops, flooring, trim work, etc.). Theoretically the only costs that can fluctuate are the allowances which depend solely on the finishes you choose. However, I got a call from Superior saying that my brick and lumber came in under budget and I would be getting a credit for the difference. I expected this to be for a few thousand dollars. Well, it turns out that it was a 6 figure credit. Keep in mind I'm not able to audit the fixed costs. It's not like the company is obligated to show me receipts. They could have just kept the credit for themselves and I never would've known. But instead they were honest about them and gave me my money back. How many builders/contractors do you think would have done that?
Lastly, my project was a big one. Most companies quoted me 18–24 months from start to finish. With Superior I moved in 13 months after they broke ground to pour the footers.
I'll never build a home with anyone else.

We built a new home with Superior and had an amazing experience. If there were any issues then they would work hard to correct it. We absolutley LOVE our new home. The quality and craftmenship is top tier. I would highly recommend using them!

I used Jon and his team to rebuild an old beat up home in 12 South. The work was extensive, but they were up to the task. We rebuilt the entire home under budget and within the time constraints needed. They were a pleasure to work with, answered any questions, and the final product was a gem. We did all of this from New York. I would highly recommend Jon and his team. Looking forward to the next project.

We just built a new custom home with superior. The whole team treated us like family from start to finish. Communication was great and finishes have been over the top. If you are ever building or re modeling I would def use again. Thanks to Steve , Andy Michelle , and all the team behind the scenes who were involved.

Our Architect, Gus Duffy, suggested that we work with Superior Custom Homes. He had worked with them numerous times in the past, and based on his recommendation, we moved forward. It was truly the best decision I have ever made! Their process, quality, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and most importantly, the people in this organization and their incredible problem-solving skills made our custom home build a wonderful experience. I had gone through a personal tragedy immediately after breaking ground, and it nearly halted the project. After some prayer and restructuring, we moved forward and I can’t imagine having to go through that with anyone other than Jon Duke, Brian Derrington, Randy Wills, Jeff, and everyone else at Superior Custom Homes. They gave me the confidence and reassurance to move forward and the end result is nothing short of spectacular. I cannot recommend them enough! I am a real estate professional in Nashville and I always recommend Superior Custom Homes and remodeling to my clients without hesitation. Five stars are not enough. Had a wonderful experience dealing with Alex Glinski and the team at Superior during the construction of our outdoor space. Constant supervision by the team to ensure proper construction and working to keep costs contained. It’s been two years since the project was completed and we have been thrilled with the results.

We were very pleased with our Basement remodel with Superior. There internal team and contractors worked together seamlessly. Out remodel started from studs. Superior installed a kitchen, bath, living room, game room guest room and craft room. They also found ways to add so much closet space. We could also trust Alex to hear our desires and envision with us the result we were hoping for. Looking forward with working with Superior in the future.

This review has been a long time coming, and I could write a horror novel about our experience. We would give them negative stars if we could. However, I have summed it up to the following:

There is nothing superior about Superior Custom Homes & Remodeling (we now call them Inferior Custom Homes & Remodeling), and we are having to sue. They’re a terrible builder. This whole process has been a nightmare, not to mention financially straining and extremely stressful.

Building a custom home is hard enough, but then when you discover major things that were massively screwed up (things that can’t be discovered on inspection) after you’ve already moved in, it’s devastating.

I have had a hard time finding any good in this season of life with this particular experience, but if I can help someone make an informed decision, then that will be my silver lining, because I don’t want anyone to go through what we have and still continue to go through.

Do not give them one penny of your hard-earned money. Don’t risk it.

They’ve been in Brentwood over 20+ years I believe, and I’m sure some folks have had good or maybe even great experiences with them, because surely you can’t be somewhere 20+ years and be all bad???

But after our experience and what we have been living through the past almost 3 years, as well as two other homeowners that we now personally know (one of whom this builder tried to get to sign an NDA), I would say run far, far away from using them.

At this point, we wouldn’t even let them remodel a small powder room, let alone build a custom home for us.

They are a wolf in sheep’s clothing. We were fooled for the first 8 months of using them, but over the last two+ years the truth was revealed, so I’ll say it again. I would not give them one penny of your hard-earned money. It’s not worth the risk, in our opinion. RUN.

It’s a sickening experience) to share more details of our horrible experience and show you photos and video proof of what has happened to us to help you make an informed decision if that is needed even after this review.
