I was very disappointed with the service I received from La Joie, especially in regards to their gift certificate policy.Late in June 2012, I received a gift certificate from the salon. My regular stylist went on leave soon after that, so I tried to use the gift certificate with her replacement. I was told that I couldn't use the gift certificate at that time because my regular stylist had already been paid out for the gift certificate. They asked me to wait until she returned from leave to use it.In September 2013, I learned the stylist would not be returning and explained the situation to the salon. They still refused to honour the certificate, even though the stylist had told me that they would take it.I contacted the Better Business Bureau to plead my case, but the salon refused to respond to the complaint. The case was closed with no reimbursement.BOTTOM LINE: La Joie has a terrible policy on gift certificates. The gift certificate does not say that it can only be used with a certain stylist, nor does it have an expiry date. Basically, if you buy a gift certificate this week and the stylist leaves next week, you've just purchased an expensive piece of paper.
