If building a house is one of the most stressful and financially consequential decisions, the right choice of builders is vital. Having Russ Johnson build our house was the best decision we could have made, especially since the building project was located 360 miles away and frequent site visits were limited by the severe winter weather. Russ was absolutely reliable, a great sounding board for ideas, always supportive, a meticulous on site manager of the project, and has well developed connections to and good relationships with subcontractors. The project came in on time (no mean feat given weather) and on budget. You cannot go wrong with Russ Johnson as your builder. We couldn't have done better.
The market in the Black Hills is a tough one, but we felt we had a local advantage by using Jim and June. They were no pressure, very friendly and professional. With years of experience, they have professional and local insight that is worth using a realtor. They helped us in a couple different scenarios, but the most when we went to purchase our house. One little suggestion in our offer was the one little thing that ultimately gave us the edge over others. It seemed so insignificant at the time, but on Jim's suggestion we did it. We couldn't be more pleased. Everything was so smooth during closing, they were completely on task and on time. We definitely recommend them!

Experience is expensive BUT you get an idea of what it was like to really travel back in the 1800's . The scenery is breath taking.
