My first bad experience was when a tech showed up for 5 minutes, played with my thermostat and without testing left in a hurry saying that should have fixed my problem. He obviously had somewhere else to be and had a child with him. Within an hour, I called them back and told them nothing was fixed. I had to get another company to come out and fix the actual issue in the unit. It took several months fighting with them to finally get the invoice cleared for their useless service call.I wanted to give them another chance recently since I have had some better service calls in the past and they had initially installed my unit. On Monday July 26 their Tech came out and determined refrigerant was leaking and put in 2 pounds of 410A. It fixed my issue but I was charged $159 per pound ! A check of google and other local companies seemed to indicate a price on the high side would have been $80 per pound. A local supply house said they sell to contractors for $10 per pound. Quite a markup ! I’m all for businesses making a profit but this seems highly excessive and the last time I will be using Tri-City with all the other options available. We called the "smiling woman" on their website and she literally laughed at us. Her response "that is cheap" and she hung up. We will never use Tri City again.Service: Repair HVAC

I purchased an entirely new unit 3 years ago. They offered me the best price and their customer support has been A1 ever since. When we call for maintenance, they know who we are and they respond promptly. Thank you!Service: Install AC

Absolutely the worst, rudest, and most condescending customer service ever! It speaks volumes when a 50 year customer decides not to use their services any longer. Also, the tech with the new company we had come out to service our unit said it looked like our a/c unit had never been cleaned! The poor guy spent 2 hours cleaning coils, etc! What the heck were we paying for all those years with Tri City?? Must have been some mighty expensive filters. Geez!!Services: Repair HVAC

Tri City did the original unit in my home, so when the time came to replace the old unit they were the first one I called. The tech was very polite, but quoted me close to $8,000 for a 2.5 ton 15 SEER Rheem heat pump and air handler unit. This included labor and everything. Rheem is the very best in my opinion, but the price seemed high, so I called three other HVAC folks in my area. Tri City was the highest of all the companies that quoted me. I ended up getting the exact same unit they quoted me on for just $3,200 out the door with labor and everything. The only set back was that the company I used took 3 full days to complete the job, whereas Tri City claimed they could do the entire install in one full day. However, after saving nearly five thousand dollars I feel that Tri City was still way too high compared to who I ended up using. The family that owns Tri City are super nice, but the cost estimate I received was enough to discourage me from ever using them in the future. No matter how big a pain it might be, find out the specs of the unit you need and call at least 3 different companies for quotes. They will all quote you on the phone without having to come out so long as you know exactly what you need (size, electric, gas pac, etc). After you get the quote you like, then the company you choose will do a site visit and discuss payment options and so forth. Price is everything in this day and age and Tri City is just really expensive.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Our 18 month old HVAC under warranty by them quit cooling. Defective coil part. Took 10 days to get part still waiting to just get repair scheduled. That won't happened until sometime next week, at least an additional 7 days! 17 to 20 days without a/c MAY INTO JUNE in COLUMBIA SC!! OFFICE PERSONNEL Refused to provide distributor information or access to owner...we are senior citizens with health issues, home all the time! Learn from my mistake, There are many reputable HVAC companies. RUN don't walk from TRICITY!!! If I could give minus stars I would Addendum: after waiting days I called to see when they will do repair, they say they called home # to schedule installation & left message, there is no ans. Mach. on the home#. Now they refuse to provide service, which is a good thing. They are a very unscrupulous bunch
