We’ve had Rob and Ben as technicians at our home. Great service. Very nice gentlemen.

After a very poor experience with a technician about a year ago, I did not expect to use Smith’s Heating and Air again. However, a new technician recently completed some warranty work and provided excellent service. After learning that the previous technician was no longer with the company, I decided to give Smith’s another opportunity and even enrolled in their annual maintenance plan.

Today was supposed to be the first scheduled maintenance visit, with an appointment window between 8:00 a.m. and noon. After waiting the entire morning, I sent a text message to the company to inquire about the technician’s arrival time. Instead of receiving a text reply, Diana called my wife and stated, “Obviously we won’t be there by noon,” in a defensive and unapologetic manner.

Following that call, I contacted the company directly to cancel the service and request a refund for the maintenance plan, which had not yet begun. During the call, I was interrupted several times, and when I asked Diana to please allow me to finish speaking, she denied interrupting and continued to speak over me repeatedly. Her dismissive attitude and lack of professionalism made the experience extremely frustrating.

Despite one exceptional technician restoring some of my confidence in the company, this most recent encounter erased any goodwill. The unprofessional and discourteous behavior from the office staff was unacceptable. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Smith’s Heating and Air based on this experience.

This company is locally owned and operated as such. They excel in customer service and transparency. Spencer and his team are top notch, and I highly recommend them.

I highly recommend this company!! I have used them for 17 years. They are so honest and reputable. I used them when I lived on James Island and on Johns Island. They are very honest. I always had a contract with them and came twice a year to service my HVAC system. In both homes I only had minor problems and they never ripped me off.

I just had a problem with my A/C on the weekend and their technician came out next day on a Sunday! He fixed the problem temporarily so I could have A/C until they could order the part. They called me Monday to tell me they would come out Wednesday to replace the part. In this day and age it’s very hard to find a company that one can trust. If you had problems in the past with your HVAC company in the past I highly recommend Smith Heating and Air.

Not happy with this place I called in the first place to have our furnace and air checked and serviced and smelled something burning when our heat was on... They came out and nothing was done that day and said we needed to fix two things and if we didn't fix it eventually it could leak carbon monoxide into our house. So I called back to sign up for the yearly service scheduled and everything fixed and asked her about the discount to fix those parts and she told me it was 10 or 15% she couldn't remember. Fast forward to today our carbon monoxide detectors were going off so I called them and said we have our appointment tomorrow and the lady I spoke to was not very nice at all. Seemed like she would rather argue with me rather than help... Her tone was condescending talking to me like I was stupid or a child when in reality I'm scared of the situation. She was like okay well our technician shouldn't have told you that and as far as she knows it was nothing on their side that can cause immediate danger or death. And he didn't write it in his report and she read the report back to me. I pointed out the part he noted needed replaced/attached and told her that's when he mentioned if it got any worse that carbon monoxide could potentially leak into the house. And then she said the technician Rob mumbles so he could've came across the wrong way and she spoke to a manager who has a lot more experience and since we weren't running the heat that it's nothing on their end as of right now. Then she proceeded to tell me the person last time scheduled me tomorrow for service only! I said no I called to sign up for the servicing and have those parts fixed and she told me there was a misunderstanding so now they have to order those parts and schedule another time to fix them... Might go with another place because of how rude the receptionist is.

Technicians were polite, generally knowledgeable and efficient. However, after three separate visits (that I had to pay for) the issue still was not resolved. Specifically, the thermostat that was broken due to the initial problem was replaced with a base model version. They would not come replace the warranty covered thermostat which was there before without me paying another $225. They also would not give me the thermostat to replace myself. They expressed that they understood that they had not fixed the initial problem appropriately, but I would still have to pay.
