Just know that your own dog/dogs cannot meet whatever dog you'd adopt, even in outdoor spaces, so you pretty much just have to do a blind adoption.

I wont be adopting from you or going through any of your programs. Nikki you were exceptionally rude! You called me, and when I ask questions on why your site and what you're telling me aren't lining up on the available dogs for the listed program and its link to the dogs for said program. You interrupted me multiple times and hung up on me. This is not acceptable. Consider a redo in customer service AND make sure you're honest on your website to the public about the actual dogs that GO HOME with people. Since we dont even meet them, and you just choose one in the back. Right.

We were looking to adopt a cat and looked at the Charleston Animal Shelter. Everyone that helped us was super kind and helpful. You can tell they have a passion for what they do and I felt really good about looking for our little soul kitty there. We ended up adopting from their kittens at the West Ashley Pet Smart. The people at PetSmart were not as nice and I felt super rushed and like I was being a burden to them. I hope all of the cats especially the Pet Smart kitties get adopted soon. They need love and attention and aren't getting the same attention as the cats at the actual shelter. Luckily, we still found one and saved it from Pet Smart. We are in love with our new kitty cat.

Very disappointed. I found a cat in my neighborhood who I thought to be abandoned due to wearing a collar with no tag, and appearing in my yard around the same time a few neighbors had moved away. I took the cat to be scanned for a microchip and they said the owner did not answer the phone, and that they couldnโt provide me any information and said it would be best to return back to my neighborhood and to free the cat. They also mentioned due to living in Dorchester County I could not leave the cat there either. I then drove to Dorchester Paws where they scanned the cat and showed me the owner DID consent to releasing their information, name, address etc. they called the owner and we were able to reconnect the cat back to his home. I hope if my dog is ever lost whoever finds him DOES NOT bring him here as they will not provide my information which I have consented to. They instead encouraged me to leave the animal outside. Unbelievable. I will never visit this facility again.

Dropped off a beautiful kitten I found at the dump today. They took him back, had a bowl of food for him in minutes. I was really worried because this kitten obviously had been out in the weather during the recent winter storm. The place was spotless, no bad smells or odor you often experience in a pound. Staff was caring and friendly. Amazing service to the community! Late edit: This kitten was extremely ill and the vets at Charleston Animal Society went leaps and bounds to save him. He almost died twice. He was fostered by a wonderful volunteer and she fell in love with this special boy and she adopted him. His name is Dylan.

Such an amazing facility. We have adopted here before, did again today, and will do it again in the future. They explain everything so deeply and answer any and all question you might have.
Kai is the one who helped us today and was amazing. Very thankful. ๐ค
