We took a tour with the Palmetto carriage company, and our tour guide, Mike, pointed out this church and the tree that stands in the graveyard of this church. It is the oldest Oak tree in Charleston. It's a unique graveyard in that it surrounds the entire church. The church doesn't have a yard space where there isn't a gravesite. Great value..it's free.
I visited the cemetery here. Absolutely loved it, so much history. The amount of graves is impressive. Loved the welcoming signs so everyone would know they are safe at this church!
As a local I often take visiting friends to experience The Bright Family Gospel Singing Experience … you will come away with joy in your heart and a smile on your face, plus a song on your lips. The venue is a historic church with many great stories. Take some time to look at the stained glass and architectural wood; then wander the graveyard and read the stories of the famous, influential and ordinary Charlestonians over the centuries
