“Today, we laid my brother to rest at Rideau Funeral Home & Cemetery, where four generations of our family are now buried. My great-grandmother was the first in 1972, followed by my grandmother and grandfather, my mother and father, and now my brother.
We felt exceptionally well cared for throughout the day. Bob made sure that everything went smoothly and that our family had everything we needed. He arranged the chairs and thoughtfully set up a podium so that I could place my phone there and read my brother’s eulogy. He also helped us carry the urn to the gravesite and supported us with kindness and calm at every step.
Bob read the poem “The Dash,” about the meaning of the dash between the dates of our birth and death—and how what truly matters is the way we live, love, and treat one another during that time. It was deeply moving and perfectly suited to the day.
