REVISED TO ADD: Her connections might not be all that I originally thought, as the insurance agent who wrote our flood insurance policy wrote with tentative rates meaning they charged the highest amount they could, then refused to renew for our second year. The agent was a recommendation from Karlene. The replacement policy I got on my own is for nearly $2500 less per year. I was taken advantage of because I didn't have knowledge or experience with the National Flood Insurance Program. Perhaps I shouldn't drop this to a one-star review, as she was always responsive as I noted below, but this insurance experience really feels like a scam between these two "professionals."It was a pleasure to work with Karlene Smith when we bought a house in Tidioute. Not only is she a fun and caring person, she is great at her job. She responded to my initial email inquiry on Thanksgiving night, and we made arrangements to view the property within days. While the property that prompted our relationship wasn't quite right, she listened to what we wanted and showed us the house we bought later that same day. It was a foreclosure, and she guided us through the process. She prepared us for the inevitable delays and hurdles, while keeping us calm when repairs were needed before closing. We ended up using every recommendation she provided, from the home inspector to insurance agent to mortgage company. She is knowledgeable, and her contacts in the Warren County are strong. Karlene helped us buy the riverfront weekend home of our dreams!
