“I hired All-American Electric to completely re-wire our 100+ year old home to bypass the knob-n-tube wiring and hackjob repairs done by the previous homeowners. Curt came over and explained the process. Most of the work would be invisible, but wall and ceiling cuts in certain areas may be unavoidable. He reiterated many times that attic access is preferred. We just moved into the house and had not yet found a way into the attic space.
Once Curt's crew got started, they were quick getting most of the basement done first. Once they got into the living spaces, issues accumulated. We eventually found them a way into the attic, but then crews tracked the coal dust everywhere on their shoes and hands, leaving footprints, handprints and fingerprints everywhere, including on walls we wanted to save its vintage wallpaper. I called this out to Curt and he assured me they would clean everything up once the job was done.
Another issue was that the job was bigger than Curt had originally estimated. The project was nearly a week longer than planned. Most of the issues were hidden behind the walls, but the size and scope of the job didn't change from the initial walkthrough. The cost escalations and change orders could've been better communicated, rather than telling me at the same time final payment was due.
The workmanship of the electricians and Curt were high. All of the new work was done properly and when challenges persisted, like for our exterior lights, Curt found creative solutions that looked professional and kept the aesthetics of our home in tact.
My biggest recommendation to All-American is to take additional care for housekeeping and cleanliness. I know the crew felt pressured to finish as soon as possible, but we had soap and water in the kitchens and bathrooms, and we had plastic sheeting down on the carpets and more available by request. We have a major cleaning bill now that could've been avoided if the crews washed their hands and walked on the plastic sheets.“
