Small NaturalLands preserve, less than a mile in trail distances, neighborhood noise (chain saws, target shooting and street noise), however it had beautiful moss covered rocks and a little owl. Good one for kids to explore. Owl pellets under pine trees, mossy rocks that look like forests close up and tree roots suspended over a creek. It’s in the details! Let the imagination of kids take you on this one, not the mileage.

When I googled "stroller friendly trails near me" this popped up. I had never been and saw it was fairly close to me so my kids and I took a drive. NOT stroller friendly. The trails are short and rocky (which should be obvious from the name 'stone hills').However, it would still be a lovely trail to walk with kids older than mine or on your own if you're looking for a short little adventure. (A carrier would be better for this terrain if they're still little.)

One of the smaller Natural Lands preserves, so it doesn't take long to walk all the trails. But still a nice wooded area with a steam running through it. Don't skip it when checking out all if the area's Natural Lands locations.

OPEN DAILY, DAWN TO DUSK Stone Hills Preserve is part of one of the largest contiguous woodlands in Montgomery County. Known as the Unami Forest, it is a vast, interconnected mosaic of mature forests, rocky outcrops, and more than 24 miles of streams. The high ecological value inherent in this landscape results from an extraordinary combination of overall size, unique forest and meadow plant communities, interior forest nesting bird species, and high-quality streams. To date, Natural Lands has helped to preserve more than 2,000 acres of the Unami Forest.
