I followed my GP at COWC from Equitas when she moved in 2022. She also sees my wife and both our daughters (now 19).
As someone with chronic illnesses, I require close monitoring and regular labs. My GP is always on top of things, she listens, understands and trusts me to know what’s going on with my own health. I’ve frequently encountered medical providers who dismiss, contradict and treat me as if I’m making it all up either for attention, for narcotics or due to a mental defect- none of which are correct.
This is a place to be understood, welcomed and cared for.
i cannot recommend central outreach enough. i have never felt more welcomed and validated at a doctor’s appointment in my life, by every single staff member i interacted with! if you are lgbtq+ and are nervous about going to the doctor, central outreach is a great place to go. pittsburgh is so lucky to have such a welcoming medical center!
I've been coming here for seven years more or less (moved from Pittsburgh and came back three times). Never in my life have I recieved better, more affirming care. Never have I felt more heard. The hormone treatment is top notch, they do PREP and sexual health like no one else, they even do urgent care type stuff like colds and the like!
On top of that, they have a case management/social work type office upstairs that knows their stuff. Often, those folks know the resources on a personal, working relationship type level.
