I practiced at Aikido of Pittsburgh for 25 years, until the COVID19 epidemic moved my family out of town. I will always be indebted to Shihan Masutani and her excellent instructors for their dedication to the future of Aikido.

From Aikido of Pittsburgh

Aikido of Pittsburgh was founded in 1968 by Shihan Ruriko Masutani after she emigrated from Japan. Shihan Masutani began practicing Aikido in her native Japan as a child in the early 1950’s under the guidance of her father. After moving to the United States and finally settling in Pittsburgh, Shihan Masutani continued training and began teaching seminars up and down the east coast. She taught Aikido in Pittsburgh for over 50 years. Masutani Shihan passed away in 2017. The dojo is carried on through her four highest ranked Instructors.
