The staff at Hickory Springs is the best and I would give them 10 stars if I could. One of the more affordable kennels in the area. We know when we drop our dogs off they are well cared for and loved.“

“We are so grateful for the loving care and training that Puka received for her two weeks stay with Tina. You could tell Tina cares about her students and understands their crazy quirks. It was also helpful that we could watch daily videos of Puka with her training time with Tina and also see how Puka socialized with the other dogs. When Puka came home it was very obvious that Tina had worked her magic! She was much better with commands and listening and a calmer pup. We are continuing to use her pointers when guests arrive. We highly recommend Tina to anyone looking for a very knowledgeable and caring trainer who has a love for dogs and wants them to be well-behaved with their family.“

Meg, Steve, Eric, and the rest of the staff are amazing and treat our dogs like their own. The flexibility they offer is also unmatched with always accommodating a last minute drop off, adding an extra day, and being on standby when we were awaiting the arrival of our two human babies. “I’ve used What a Good Dog for Manners 1 and 2 with both of my golden retrievers, and I’ve always been so impressed with the entire staff. Every experience has been wonderful. Recently, I scheduled a private training lesson for my two-year-old golden retriever with Mary and Sam, and I truly couldn’t have better things to say about our time together. It was absolutely worth it.

From the very beginning, they took the time to observe and understand the dynamic between me and my dog — even down to watching him get out of the car. In just a short amount of time, they were able to read us so well and give incredibly helpful, thoughtful feedback on how to support his impulsiveness, keep him more engaged, and build a stronger connection during walks.

I’m a hands-on, visual learner, and they went above and beyond to teach and educate me on reactive behaviors, especially around pulling and jumping. They introduced us to the Gentle Leader, which has been absolutely game changing for our walks and has set both me and my dog up for so much more success.

My dog walker came to the session as well, and Mary and Sam were so patient, encouraging, and nonjudgmental with all of us. Their knowledge, calm energy, and willingness to explain the “why” behind everything made the entire experience truly outstanding.

I will definitely be booking another session in December or January and highly recommend working with Mary, Sam, and the entire What a Good Dog team.“
