A few years ago she charged $100 for state filing only, then I never even got my refund - I followed up with the state, met with huge headaches trying to get it figured out, turns out she straight-up took my money and never filed. Did the same to my mother, who got a notice in the mail from the IRS about her not filing her taxes. Attempts to follow-up were met with her dodging phone calls and e-mails, or just reassuring “Oh it must be an error on their end, I’ll get it figured out!” and she’d continue dodging contact. Awful experience.

A few years ago I went through them to file my state taxes (my federal I had done on my own but state really screwed with me), they charged me $100 JUST to file state. It was kind of last-minute near the beginning of April, but still. Not only that, the $80 refund I was entitled to never, ever came. I called and asked, she just said to be patient, etc., but I never received it and it was the only year I hadn't. I suspected she didn't even file or filed it incorrectly. My mother also used her services a few years ago, despite my warnings, and the IRS sent her a letter months later about how she hadn't filed.
